<p>Cinemascopian believes that Stephen Daldry <a href="http://cinemascopian.com/2009/02/08/oscars-last-chance-for-an-upset-will-stephen-daldry-win-best-director/">could upset </a>Danny Boyle for Best Director.</p>
<p>Here are a couple of things to look out for.  The first is that there are so many similarities now between the BAFTAs and the Oscars that we have to now take the group seriously as both in terms of predicting and also in terms of influencing (aka British people are smarter).</p>
<p>The key awards I will be looking at will be if anything but Slumdog wins (it won&#8217;t), whether it&#8217;s Mickey Rourke or Sean Penn.  Whether it&#8217;s Kate or Meryl.  And I&#8217;ll also be looking at the sound and cinematography categories.  The entire AMPAS votes on the tech awards for the win so you can&#8217;t really rely on &#8220;expert picks&#8221; for the wins.</p>
<p>No Guts, No Glory: The Reader picks up serious momentum at the BAFTAs, thus throwing an unexpected wrench into the works.</p>
