Johnny Depp is now officially returning for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment of the popular films.
In this film, Captain Jack Sparrow will be in search of the fountain of youth. The film is supposedly going to begin filming in Hawaii this upcoming summer. The movie will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, as were the other ones, and directed by Rob Marshall.
The set release date is May 20, 2011. Along with Depp, Geoffrey Rush will also be returning as Barbossa, the first captain of the black pearl.
Unfortunately, Orlando Bloom and co-star Keira Knightley are not expected to return for the fourth installment.
In other news about the film, it is loosely based on the 1987 novel by Tim Powers. The producers said that they were planning on doing a film about Blackbeard and the Fountain of Youth and the book sort of corresponds with the idea they had.
Depp will apparently earn $33.6 million for his role for the fourth time in the Pirates series.
