Emma Watson, star of Harry Potter and model for Burberry, is currently attending Brown University as a freshman. Her mission to stay under the radar is now under attack since the Harvard-Brown football game in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Saturday.
Watson attended the football game surrounded by guards because The Harvard Voice, a student magazine, stated their plan to “stalk” her. These select students kept an “Emma watch” while tweeting about the game.
According to a source, Watson was quite shaken up by all of the attention, and the blog, “OMG, It’s Emma Watson“, was updating like crazy. The blog has started a campaign to bring as much attention to her as possible.
Commenters were extremely unhappy with the blog. One commenter wrote, “There is a locatable cause of Watson’s experience at Harvard Stadium, and a blameworthy party. However, I doubt we’ll get an apology from The Harvard Voice.”
Before the game, the blog posted, “We will be Live-Tweetin’ the game and possibly stalking Emma Watson, so keep your eyes peeled for that, too!” They later tweeted, “In enemy territory. Lookin for a certain witch.”
Another unhappy reader commented, “She’s had enough press, and I’m sure she didn’t go to Brown so blogs would post more photos of her trying to be a normal girl. Chill out and just let her be a college student.”
The editor of the site posted this after the fact to downplay the entire situation: “Understand that these live tweets were made to be intentionally outrageous and overblown.”
A rep for Brown said, “This isn’t the sort of thing we comment on.” Watson’s reps could not be found and have yet to comment on this matter.
