Probably one of the most influential films for it’s day was citizen kane directed by and starring orson welles. some of the techniques used in that movie had never been done before
you might want to look into some of the great directors of the past. one good way to do this would be to take a college level class. the school i went to offered a class in films and literature. it was taught from the viewpoint of the director as the primary creator of the film
we read the book, saw the movie. then discussed how certain points of view or mood from the book were presented in the movie"Pride" and "The Great Debaters". I mean, those two films featured a primarily African-American cast, that delivered a performance that will never be forgotten. It was literally a replay of black history, but on film this time(thank God). Those films are needed to keep everyone in the known about the atrocities of slavery, racism, prejudice, and discrimination. And plus, you can’t go wrong with a film that features Denzel Washington. What George Lucas did with Star Wars was really responsible for introducing the era of special effects driven movies. A number of modern effects processes and techniques are directly derived from what Lucas did with Star Wars.D.W. Griffith’s Birth of a Nation (1915). It was the first true blockbuster, and established the feature length film as dominant. It also helped establish Hollywood,Ca at the center of the movie business. It made many film techniques, such as jump cuts and close ups, standard for all films.
It’s also possibly the most controversial film ever to come out of Hollywood, with its celebration of the Ku Klux Klan and its racist portrayals of black people, who are played mostly by white actors in blackface.
