Gomorra sweeps European Film Awards

Italian mob movie Gomorra swept the European Film Awards today, with a total of 5 wins in most of the top categories.   Kristin Scott Thomas won Best Actress for I’ve Loved You So Long.  Gomorra is building the kind of international momentum the can lead to mulitple-nomination spillover in categories other than Best Foreign Language Film — like The Diving Bell and the Butterfly last year, and Pan’s Labyrinth in 2006.

  • Best actress: Kristin Scott Thomas, “I’ve Loved You So Long”

  • Carlo di Palma European Cinematographer Award: Marco Onorato, “Gomorra”
